Big Developments Surround 25th Anniversary of 9/11 Attacks

In some ways, our latest Lawdragon article on the 9/11 trial judge suppressing KSM’s confessions to the FBI because of his earlier CIA abuse culminated a decade or so of our coverage on the proceedings. Air Force Lt. Col. Michael Schrama made the ruling just days after deciding to set a June 2028 trial date for the case – which received its greatest share of media coverage since the plea deal saga from 2024.

Thanks to Bobby Cuza and the NY1 team for having me on Inside City Hall to discuss the case and my book, and for earlier featuring me in a great explainer segment about delays in the proceedings. The recent developments played a role in my guest essays timed with the 25h anniversary, which included a lengthy analysis for Responsible Statecraft and a shorter Op-Ed for the Boston Globe explaining how the CIA torture program has complicated the case. I gave commentary for a BBC article on the long wait for justice, very well done by Alice Cuddy.

I also discussed the military commissions at the annual 9/11 Symposium by the Voices Center for Resilience, which I am grateful for getting to be a part of for the second year in a row.
